Polaris and DogPatch Labs Thrive in Ireland

It’s common at this time of year to look forward, make resolutions, set goals, finalize plans etc., but it’s also a great time to take a look back over what’s been achieved in the last 12 months. With that in mind, we thought we’d share some deets of both Polaris and Dogpatch Labs activity in Ireland over the last 24 months.  First up, @dogpatchlabs – Here’s a sample of some Dogpatch Labs Dublin companies including current residents and alumni:

Dogpatch Portcos

Through September 2013, two years since opening up here on Barrow Street, 30 companies have been part of the @dogpatchlabs Dublin community, employing a total of 160 full time staff as of the same date – namely engineers and developers, designers, data scientists and PhD’s of one discipline or another – and with plans to employ more than 500 full time staff amongst that 30 company cohort alone in the next couple of years. And now they’ve the dollars to do it too. Again as of end of Q3 2013, this 30 company cohort – which prior to joining the @dogpatchlabs community had raised a combined $3m across them – had raised $36m.  That’s a 12 X multiple pre- and post- @dogpatchlabs.

On the investment front, we @ PolarisPartners have been pretty busy throughout 2013 and have invested over $25m in Dublin companies by way of commitments and reserves in the last 12 months alone.

Needless to say we are pretty bullish about Tech in Ireland and obviously these number  are testament to the caliber and quality of founders and teams we are partnering with here.  And what’s also significant about our investments in Irish companies is the participation in these funding rounds from other U.S. venture firms. RRE, Lerer Ventures, Greycroft and Floodgate have all invested with us and, in each case, it represented their firms’ first investments in Irish companies.

So, having taken time to look back,  we now look forward to partnering with more great Irish companies throughout 2014 and beyond.

Happy New Year!
